Annabelle Rose Trust
This website was created to help us raise awareness and the much needed funding to take a little girl to America for a life changing operation. Annabelle Rose is our youngest daughter. Following a very busy 10 months, we are so very happy as her parents to confirm that we have reached target and have booked for the operation to take place in January 2011.
Please read on to follow our story and see what amazing things people have been doing for us through the 'News Feeds' and 'Events' tab.
Annabelle was born 10 weeks prematurely and spent the first 8 weeks of her life in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit at Leeds General Infirmary. She was a tiny 3lb 6oz and was unable to breath on her own. She was diagnosed with Quadriplegic Spastic Cerebral Palsy. We were advised that she would be unable to walk, talk, or feed herself and she would be blind. Whist she is unable to walk, she has defied all predictions and she is very vocal, feeds herself and has such a lovely, charming personality. The procedure we are so keen to undertake with Annabelle is done so to offer a better life to children who suffer from Cerebral Palsy. Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy, is conducted by TS Park, a surgeon at the St Louis Children's Hospital, Missouri, United States (www.stlouischildrens.org). Whilst there are many possible complications with this risky, invasive and permanent procedure, it may just be the one thing that helps her to walk and lead a richer and more independent life.
Our hope and dream is that this Trust will grow and we will be able to offer support to other children and families that are affected by Cerebral Palsy.
The lives of children with Cerebral Palsy, and the lives of those that are closest to them can be affected in varying degrees, from minor adjustment to huge challenges and all have specific educational, personal, developmental and emotional needs.
Our mission is to support these children and their families with all their needs, treating them all as the individuals that they are.
